Marimekko Hosts Secret Summer Dinner
The Finnish brand welcomed its exclusive guests to a Scandinavian summer dinner at The Mine.
Finnish fashion and homeware brand, Marimekko, hosted an exclusive and intimate Scandinavia-inspired dinner at The Mine art gallery on Monday June 1st. The event was attended by a hand selected few of Dubai’s most fashionable and artistic ladies including Nadine Kanso, Tala Samman, and Natalia Shustova to name just a few.
Guests were welcomed with beautifully draped Marimekko print fabrics hanging from the ceiling and select looks from the Marimekko SS 15 Collection floating in mid-air throughout the gallery to create a magical world of Marimekko. These fabrics and looks were surrounded by art curated by The Mine which added to the artistic feel of the brand. Guests were then guided through a video about the creation and artistry behind the prints that have become synonymous with the Marimekko brand.
After a brief introduction on the brand, the VIP guests were whisked away to the upstairs loft of The Mine where they encountered a beautiful summer picnic-style dinner setting complete with glowing chandeliers covered in ivy fixings and swings interspersed with rustic garden chairs. The table was fully decorated with Marimekko homeware and luscious summer flowers to create a uniquely Finnish, elegant atmosphere.
Guests were treated to a Scandinavian-esque three-course dinner, with select dishes chosen from the menu at Marimekko Café. While dining, they were serenaded with live music while one of Dubai’s most well-known artists, Tarsila Schubert, painted in her signature style.
Marimekko was founded in 1951, known for its bold colours and unconventional prints which has given the brand its instantly recognisable and unique identity. Today, Marimekko’s inventive, yet timeless dialogue between colour, pattern and shape translates into distinctive designs in ready-to-wear, accessories and home decor that celebrate the art of print making in 40 countries around the globe.
